        Entonces, este sitio web que pertence a Saludmed se habrá de elaborar y refexionar sobre temáticas vinculadas con la salud y el bienestar del individuo y de una sociedad.

EL CONCEPTO DE SALUD Y SALUD PÚBLICA

        La salud desde la perspectiva holística representa aquel nivel, o estado, de bienestar de siete dimensiones o componentes de la salud, que son la física, mental (o intelectual), social, emocional, espiritual, ambiental (o ecológica), ocupacional y financiera (o económica).  Estas dimensiones se consideran interconectadas, dado que un área se construye sobre la otra.  También, los señalados constituyentes de la salud son influenciados por la interacción del individuo con su ambiente social y físico (Robinson, 2023a, 2023b; Videto & Dennis, 2021).

        El campo de la salud pública trata de las acciones tomadas a nivel de la población para promover la salud y prevenir enfermedades, lesiones y muertes prematuras.  La salud de la población se refiere a las consecuencias y determinantes de la salud de los grupos o comunidades, sea a nivel regional, nacional o mundial.  Por su parte, la salud global representa un campo académico de estudio, investigación y práctica aplicada que busca mejorar la salud de la población mundial (Jacobsen, 2024).

        La salud no es perfecta y se encuenta influenciada por múltiples factores.  Uno de tales variables son los determinantes sociales.  Éstos representan factores que emergen de las políticas sociales y las influencias económicas (Braveman, 2023, p. 1).  Abundando más sobre este tema, los determinantes de la salud consiste de 1) la genética (e.g., género, edad y características individuales), 2) el comportamiento de salud a nivel individual (e.g., la dieta, actividad física y el uso del alcohol), 3) el contexto social y comunitario (e.g., la educación, el estado socioeconómico, la vivienda y el crimen), 4) estabilidad económica, 5) las influencias ambientales, físicas y el ambiente construido (e.g., agua potable segura, dónde vive la persona, condiciones de hacinamiento, estructuras urbanas que propicien la actividad física y el transporte activo) y 6) los servicios de la salud (e.g., el acceso a un cuidado de salud de calidad, costos y falta de un seguro médico) (Burke, & Weill, 2024; Cottrell, Seabert, Spear, & McKenzie, 2023).

        Comúnmente, las conductas vinculadas con la salud pueden ser modificadas en acorde a la percepción subjetiva que posee el individuo con respecto al reconocimiento de riesgos como parte de su estilo de vida.  También, esta persona puede estar consciente de los beneficios potenciales para la salud si se altera favorablemente tales comportamientos peligrosos.  A este posible patrón para la modificación intrínseca del comportamiento de riesgo se le ha otorgado el nombre del Modelo para Creencia de la Salud (Edlin & Golanty, 2023).

        Las Ciencias de la Salud posee dos perspectivas principales, una individual (o personal) y otra pública (colectiva o social).  El contenido de Salud, como disciplina y campo de estudio profesional, es sumamente amplio.  Comunmente, la Ciencias de la Salud incluyen: vida activa (e.g., actividades físicas y ejercicios); Nutrición; la salud emocional y espiritual; la salud mental (e.g., estrés, ansiedad); uso y abuso de sustancias nocivas a la salud (e.g., uso de drogas y su adicción); educación sexual; enfermedades crónico-degenerativas; enfermedades infecto-contagiosas; la violencia y su prevención; salud ambiental; primeros auxilios; envejecimiento, senectud y la muerte; sistemas para el cuidado de la salud, los seguros médicos y las políticas públicas que afectan la salud individual y colectiva (Kiely, Manze, & Palmedo, 2020).
